Think Before You Trash! - A Guest Lecture on Waste Management (2023-24)
A guest lecture on waste management titled, “Think Before You Trash” was held at St. Mira’s
College by the Green Club on 8 th January 2024 at 12:00 noon. 165 students across all the streams
attended the guest lecture. The session was a highly enlightening featuring Mr. Firdosh
Roowala, the esteemed founder of Green Thumb, as the key speaker. Mr. Roowala delved into
crucial aspects of waste management, emphasizing the significance of waste segregation and
composting.
During the session, Mr. Roowala shed light on the adverse effects of plastic on the environment,
stressing the urgency of reducing plastic usage. He articulated the importance of proper waste
segregation as a fundamental step towards effective waste management. By elucidating practical
strategies for composting, he encouraged the audience to actively participate in waste reduction
efforts.
