Hiroshima Day– Department of Politics and Public Administration (2023-2024)
The Department of Politics and Public Administration organised a movie screening –
‘Oppenheimer’ on the occasion of Hiroshima Day on Sunday, 6 th August 2023 for the SYBA
and TYBA students. The screening was at INOX theatre in Amanora Mall, Pune.
The Department planned the screening of this movie to make students understand the process
of political decision making based on social, ideological and military conditions.
Oppenheimer is an excellent movie which portrays the conflict between academic thought
and political-military decisions. It was an attempt by the Department to understand American
policy decisions with regard to the development of the bomb and the use of this deadly
weapon in August 1945. The session was enriching for the students. 12 students participated
in this activity. The activity was coordinated by Ms. Veena Kenchi.
