Guest Lecture- “Student Participation in Strengthening of Democracy”- Dept. of Politics and Public Administration (2023-24)
The Dept. of Politics and Public Administration organized a guest lecture on “Student
Participation in Strengthening of Democracy” on Friday, 20th October 2023. The lecture was conducted
by Ms. Zahra Shetranjiwala, Media Manager and Social Worker. She is an aspiring Industrial psychologist
and social worker in training with a strong inclination towards the mental health and stability of young
adults.
Ms. Shetranjiwala delivered an insightful and thought-provoking lecture that emphasized the
vital role of students in the democratic process. The key highlights of her lecture included the discussion
on the various opportunities wherein students can volunteer and contribute to the task of nation
building. The lecture included real-life case studies and success stories of students who had actively
contributed to the strengthening of democracy in their communities.
The lecture was organized as part of the VEC Course- Democracy and Elections. The purpose has
been to reinforce the idea that students are not just beneficiaries of democracy but essential
stakeholders in the democratic process. The lecture also ignited a sense of responsibility and enthusiasm
among students to actively participate in nation-building activities. This event is a testament to our
commitment to providing holistic education that goes beyond the classroom, equipping students with
the knowledge and motivation to become responsible and engaged citizens. 97 students attended the
Session. The session was coordinated by Ms. Veena Kenchi.
