Alumni Meeting On 29-06-2019
St. Mira’s College Alumni Association conducted the first meeting of 2019-20 on 29-06-2019. Dr. Dimple Buche read the previous minutes that were approved and seconded by the rest of the members. Ms. Kashmira Shah discussed the progress of the last academic year (2018-19) and laid down new proposals for the current year (2019-20). The College Alumni Committee also proposed a new Agenda which would enhance the fulfilment of the objectives of the Alumni Association.New means were discussed to increase the strength of the Association; to create a blog and conduct Alumni Interface with the current batches. Both the College Committee and the Association applauded the opening of the Association Bank Account and Dr. Soniya Chavan’s generous contribution of One Lakh Rupees to the Alumni Fund.
Alumni Meet 2018
26th January 2018 was a special day for many reasons. This year our alumni came back to join us for flag hoisting. After that, the St Mira’s Alumni Association was formally constituted in a meeting in the AV Room.
Rupal Gesota of the 1995 batch proposed that Kashmira Shah of the 1980 batch be President and this was seconded by Soniya Chavan from the general body. This was followed by a small video where Kashmira introduced herself. It was then proposed that Asha Panikar of the 2004 batch be Vice President and it was seconded by Meenakshi Balkawde. Asha Panikar addressed the group on the importance of networking and then proposed that Rupal Gesota be the secretary which was seconded by Pooja Tank. They proposed that Gauri Malgi the registrar of St Mira’s College who is an alumnus of the 1992 batch would be treasurer and this was seconded by Jaya Nagrani. Rupal Gesota introduced herself and spoke on what it meant to be a "Miraite".
The other founder members are Elizabeth Kanade, Heshma Daryani and Treta Lulla. Many registered as life members and some as annual members. The association will be formally registered and managed by the alumni themselves.
Once the formalities were completed, the fun and games began. There was a round of Housie organized by Rupal with many prizes to be won which were sponsored by Treta. This was followed by high tea, laughter and memories.
Activities
Alumni Meet 2018-19
St. Mira’s College for Girls hosted the Alumni Meet 2018-19 on 26th January 2019 amidst the Republic Day Celebrations. This year the celebration was even more significant with the formal registration of the St. Mira’s College Alumni Association. The Meet was declared open by the Chief Guest Dr. Sunita Adhav, Principal, Modern Law College, a proud alumnus. The alumni members discussed the various ways of achieving the goals of the Association. They also contributed generously to the Association for the welfare of students. The Alumni Association has decided to award Rs.3000 as a cash prize to the Best Student in Accountancy in M.Com and Rs.2000 to the Best Accountancy Wizard. Mihika Bhanot, the youngest Image Consultant has taken the initiative to drive a panel discussion on Women’s Day 2019 for the college students. A LinkedIn Group has been created to share career opportunities.
Business Administration Guest Lecture by Alumnus
A guest lecture was conducted on 18th August2018 for the M.Com.Business Administration students to get an insight on the current trends in Human Resources.The speaker was Ms.Heshma Daryanani, our Alumina, currently working in a lead position with a start-up company. During her session, sheoffered practical examples on issues related to‘Recruitment and Selection’and challenges faced during training and in one’s career. The session was very interactive and touchedupon the entire process from job profiling to selection and offer. Students are looking forward to more of such lectures.
Ms. Heshma, a student of 2015 batch is an enthusiasticmember of the Alumni Associationand has actively contributed by sharing her expertise with the current students.
Alumni Association – An address by Chairperson, Kashmira Shah
On 17th August 2018, the Chairperson of the Alumni Association, Kashmira Shah, an alumnus of 1981 batch and a Chartered Accountant by profession, addressed the students in the Sanctuary.
She remembered revered Dada as a great influence in her life since the last 40 years. She suggested that the students imbibe the principles of 3S’s: Sangh, Self-Control and Service, which she learnt at St. Mira’s. She advised the girls to keep an open mind and learn from the dedication and teachings of the founder-Dada J.P. Vaswani.
Ms. Kashmira also inspired the students in giving back to their college in whatever capacities they can. She appealed to the students to motivate their family members who were alumni of St. Mira’s to join the Alumni Association and strengthen it.
