Department of Economics – Population Day- July 11
On the occasion of World Population Day, July 11, 2022, a Guest Lecture on “Adolescent Health and Nutrition”, by Dr. Gita Parwani, practising Homeopath at the Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital, Pune.The lecture theme was relevant to UN SDG 3: Health for All by 2030 and the NFHS-5 with special emphasis on Female Health and Nutrition.
Dr. Gita covered health issues afflicting adolescent women like iron and zinc deficiency, constipation, lack of immunity, nervous system and neurological instability, bone density issues, mental depression and poly-cystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).She stressed on the need for a balanced diet, increased water consumption (8-10 glasses per day), important food/dietary inclusions, daily physical activity, restful sleep, undisturbed by electronic stimulation and loud music as imperative for a long, healthy and active life. The lecture was attended by 41 students of the SYBA Economics General Class.
