Department of Accountancy

Internship Programme

In order to achieve the objective of employability, the Department of Accountancy deliberated upon the idea of internship for the students of TYBCom. Accordingly, a student survey was conducted to understand their views on and interests in internships. The survey results indicated a 70% response in favor of internships basically with Chartered Accountancy firms. This led to the formulation of the syllabus on a Certificate course in Accountancy and Taxation by the in-house faculty of the department, which would further culminate into internships with Chartered Accountancy firms in Pune. The syllabus of the course was further updated with professional inputs from CA Akshay Oke and CA Aishwarya Gundecha.

CA Akshay Oke floated this scheme of internships based on the Certificate Course in Accountancy and Taxation to CA Ruta Chitale, Vice Chairperson, ICAI, Pune Branch. In a meeting scheduled on 20th November 2018, attended by CA Ruta Chitale, CA Akshay Oke, Ms. Elizabeth Kanade (HoD, Department of Accountancy) and Ms. Meenakshi Wagh (Co-ordinator, Internships and Placements), CA Ruta Chitale highly appreciated the syllabus of the Certificate course in Accountancy and Taxation. She welcomed our initiative and proposed internships for our current TYBCom students to be commenced immediately from December 2018. As a part of this initiative, an Orientation programme was organized and conducted by CA Ruta Chitale in the ICAI Bhawan, Pune on 01st December 2018 for the students who had enlisted their names for internships. In this programme, the efforts of Ms. Elizabeth Kanade and Ms. Meenakshi Wagh in introducing such an innovative stride, especially in commerce curriculum was commended, by felicitating them.

The duo CA Ruta Chitale and CA Akshay Oke explicated the concept of “internship with Chartered Accountancy firms” to the TYBCom students. CA Akshay Oke also addressed the queries of the students and gave them guidelines which would enable the students in becoming successful interns.
