Placement Cell Report 2023-24
1. Placement Orientation Sessions:
- Conducted for final year postgraduate and undergraduate students.
- Aimed to orient students about the Cell functionalities, information on Cell coordinators and student representatives, and types of placement opportunities available.
- Total participation: 253 students.
2. IBM Skills Build Program:
- An LOU (Letter of Understanding) signed on 5th December 2023 with IBM Skills Build.
- Objective: Enhance employment opportunities by building soft skills and providing industry-relevant training.
- Orientation held on 6th September 2023 by Anjali Verma, Digital Skill Creator for IBM Skill Build CSR BOX.
3. Workshop on Building Employability Skills:
- Conducted on 28th August 2023.
- Facilitator: Dr. Pramod Kumar, Director-ISB&M (Ph.D. - IIT, Mumbai).
- Covered resume writing, group discussions (GD), personal interviews (PI), emotional intelligence, attitude, and personality traits.
- Aimed at preparing final year students for corporate environments.
4. Soft Skill Session '3 Secrets of Getting a Dream Job':
- Facilitated by Mr. Perseus Udachia, Founder, SupeResources LLP.
- Conducted on 11th September 2023.
- Focus: Future work world, 3C model of cracking the dream job, and tips for job readiness.
- Participation: 113 final year students from all streams.
5. Webinar on Cyber security Career Guidance:
- Organized by the Placement Cell in collaboration with Infoshare Systems.
- Held on 9th February 2024.
- Audience: Students from TYBSC (CS), TYBBA (CA), MSC (CS), SYBSC (CS).
- Covered trends and opportunities in cyber security, including a live demo on hacking techniques.
- Emphasized the importance of cyber security careers.
These activities reflect a comprehensive approach by St. Mira's College for Girls to prepare students for their careers through skill development, industry exposure, and career guidance sessions. Each event appears to target specific aspects of employability and career readiness, catering to the diverse needs of students across different disciplines.
The Placement Cell has also initiated the process of placement drives with various organizations like KPMG, Capgemini, Accenture, UpThink, Northern Trust, TCS, , Verizon wireless communication , Omniscient Technology, Ubisoft, Ticklinks, Deloitte.

Placement Cell Report 2021 - 22
A Soft-skills session, ‘College to Corporate’ was organized by the Placement Cell and Life Skills Committee of St. Mira’s College, for Final Year Students to groom them for the corporate world. 194 students across all streams participated for the same. The session was conducted by Dr. S. Jayaraman (Director –ISB&M - Bangalore) on 10th August 2021 on a Virtual Platform.
A Virtual soft skill session titled Resume Crafting and Interview Skills was hosted by VIPApplicant’s EduPeer and conducted by the Placement Cell on 13th January, 2022 The session was facilitated by Mr. Hitesh Sharma, CEO, VIPApplicant, Ms. Sravanthi Marriwada, Lead, Product Development Department, VIPApplicant and Mr. Aviral Mathur who provided the demo of the AI enabled software. The session included discussions on the future of the work world, PPP model of cracking interviews, tips to be job ready. The highlight of the session was a hands-on demo to craft an AI enabled resume. The students enthusiastically participated in the session. The interested students would register with EduPeer to take the advantage of crafting resumes using the software.
A webinar was organized on 19 January,2022 by the Placement Cell and the Code of Conduct committee on the topic “ Professional Ethics at Workplace” by HR consultant Ms. Pooja Kashid from MNC AllScript Pune. Ms. Kashid explained what work ethics matters when you join an organization.
A Soft-skills session, ‘How to crack Aptitude’ was organized by the Placement Cell of St. Mira’s College, for Final Year Students to groom them for placement drives. Students across all streams participated for the same. The session was conducted by Prof. Anupama Tadarmala- Associate Dean & Dy Academic Coordinator on 16th September 2021 on a Virtual Platform.
The Placement Cell of St. Mira’s College for Girls, in collaboration with Inspirus Education, conducted a webinar on “Education Abroad and Beyond” on Wednesday the 9th of February 2022 for all second-year and third-year students. The webinar was hosted by Mr.Abhinav Gogoi, the Vice president - Business Development and outreach at Inspirus Education and an Education and Career Consultant.

Placement Cell Report 2020 - 21
Online Placement Orientation Sessions were conducted for the final year post-graduation and under-graduation students at St. Mira’s College for Girls, Pune. Two hundred and ninety-one students across all streams attended the same. The highlights of the sessions were:- Familiarizing the student community with the Placement Cell; the functioning of the Placement Cell through placement coordinators and placement student representatives, where students liaise the activities; the array of placement opportunities/drives available on and off-campus etc.
On 26th June 2020, students of St. Mira’s college were offered an opportunity to address one of the major roadblocks that they were facing in their career due to COVID-19, through a webinar on “Post COVID Job Scenario and Interview Skills” The webinar was conducted in collaboration with PIBM (Pune Institute of Business Management), by Mr. Parijat Pushp, Talent acquisition head - Mahindra insurance Brokers limited), and Mr. Ramanpreet (Chairman –PIBM) The aim of the webinar was equipping students with modern ways of presenting themselves and their resume for interviews. Mr. Pushp and Mr. Ramanpreet gave several insights on changing requirements in today’s scenario. The students were guided on the pathways to achieve the right kind of value addition to their profile.
St. Mira’s College for Girls, Pune hosted a National Webinar on “Strategies to Crack GRE/GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL”; Counselling” for students of three-year Degree Course in association with Imperial Overseas Education Consultant. Speakers at the Webinar were: Mr. Ankur Rupani (Training Head; Sr. Counsellor) Mr. Akshay Bhandari( Lead Counsellor- Europe; Trainer ) Ms. Dr Srivathsa Vaidya (Counselling Head- Pune)The Webinar covered a wide range of topics which included GRE, GMAT, TOFEL and IELTS exams, and the structures and strategies to keep in mind while appearing for them. Total 34 students from B.Sc.(CS) attended the same.
IMS learning centre offered a 10 DAY FREE ACCESS TO IMS's PLACEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM. Access dates were from 12th to 23rd August. Product features-2 Live Online Sessions, 30 Hours of videos, 75 sectional tests, 60 chapters and10 full-length mock tests for St. Mira’s students. Approximate 120 students from different streams enrolled for the same.
On the 10th of September 2020, the talent and acquisition team of Amdocs conducted a profile building session for the students of St Mira’s College. A total of 200 students participated. The main foci for the session were: building a successful CV, boosting LinkedIn profiles, and the art of online interviews. The team of speakers consisted of Prajakta Mody, Joy Patra and Nikhil Padale. They gave insights and tips on enhancing CVs; how to build a LinkedIn profile step-by-step; and, how to present oneself in a virtual interview.
Placement Cell actively conducted various online placement drives in the midst of the pandemic in 2020-21. Several companies like Ubisoft, KPMG, Northern Trust, WIPRO, L&T Infotech, Infosys, Cognizant, Knowledge solution India conducted online placement drives for the students of St. Mira’s College for Girls.
Placement Cell Report 2019 - 20
The placement cell of St. Mira’s College organized an orientation program on Wednesday 24th July 2019 from 10:45 am to 11:15 am in the AV room for all TYå and PG students to make them aware of the placement cell activities, and to introduce the current student placement representative from each department for the annual year 2019-20. As the outcome of the program, the students were familiarized with the student placement coordinator from their respective departments, and their role in placement drives. They also got an idea of the various companies and jobs they can apply for. The Placement Cell oriented students about the various internship opportunities available on online platforms.
As an initiative of the training and placement cell for soft skills, "MaTPO Aptitude Idol-2019", an aptitude test for all TY students was conducted on 22nd July 2019. It was organized by the Maharashtra Association of TPOs. The test gave the students a brief idea of how aptitude tests are conducted for placements in a company. The test duration was of 60 minutes with different sections on English, Quantitative Aptitude, and analytical reasoning. Students of TY B.Sc. (CS) and BBA (CA) enthusiastically participated in this aptitude test.
The Placement Cell organized a soft skills session in the sanctuary on 31st July 2019 for all final year students. The resource person was Prof. Subramanyam Degala from ISB&M, Nanded, who started his career in the Heavy Engineering Public Sector. Prof. Degala alumnus of Andhra University, Delhi School of Social Work with an MBA in Marketing and several courses from IIM Ahmadabad, IIM Calcutta and Administrative staff college of Hyderabad, is a highly- experienced resource person. The session included an in-depth talk on Group Discussion, Personal Interviews and their objectives, and Women Empowerment.
The placement cell organized a session on Soft-Skill Development for all final year students on 10 August 2019. The topic for the session was S.P.O.T. yourself. The session was hosted by Miss. Pooja Kashid who is an HR operation consultant at the MNC -All Script and has completed an SHRM-CP Certification. She has completed her Master of Science (MSc); Human Resources Management from the University of Southampton (UK). She guided the students on topic S.P.O.T yourself and topics such as appearance, communication, gravitas and public speaking. The session was well received and the students enthusiastically look forward to the next session of this training to learn more and groom them further. Students understood the importance of communication skills, presentation skills and public speaking in a corporate.
The placement cell organized a mock aptitude test for all the third-year students on 24th August 2019. The test was conducted by Mr. Yogesh Borse, Area Manager, and ICFAI Business School. The test involved language proficiency, quantitative and data analysis. The students found the mock test very useful for understanding the areas in which they have to put in more effort and train themselves to crack the aptitude test round.
KPMG, India, one of the leading providers of services in finance, business advisory, internal audit and corporate governance conducted a Campus Placement drive for the job of Analyst, Risk Consulting Forensic and Pre-Employment Background Checks (PEBC) on the 7th December 2019. The drive was headed by Associate Director, Forensic, Mr. Anuj Singh. 30 students from three streams participated in the drive. Seven students were selected, 5 from B. Com, 2 from BA and 1 from BBA.
The placement cell organized a pre-placement talk for the company TCS on December 18, 2019, for all the final year students across all streams. The session was conducted by Mr. Amit Kanade and Mr. Nilesh Sonu members TCS HR team for 7 years. The students were provided details on the work environment and employee policies of TCS. It was an interactive session with queries on the placement process, hiring policies and compensation offered.
The placement cell organized a lecture on ‘Corporate Expectations’, on 11th January 2020 for the students across streams. The guest speaker was Mr. Prashant Somani, Corporate Trainer, PIBM, Pune. Mr. Somani spoke about different kinds of jobs that are expected in the world of Information Technology and how the students as potential employees should get ready for this change. The session was interactive with students inquiring about the work ethos in the corporate world.
The Mphasis placement drive took place on 13th February 2020 in the AV room for the TY students across all the streams. Mr Sarfaraz Khan, Senior HR, and Mr Ashraf, Senior Delivery Executive from Mphasis were present for the drive. After the rounds, 16 students were selected by the recruiters, of whom 11 were for the non-voice process and 5 for the voice process.
Placement Cell Report (2018-19)
This year (2018-19) placement cell organized an orientation program to familiarise the current T.Y. batch with the placement cell activities; to encourage students to take part in various pre-placement drives; to make them aware of their role in post-placement updates and to introduce the current year student placement representatives from each department. Students also registered with the placement cell.
An orientation session was conducted by Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Ltd. on Monday, 13th August 2018 from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm in the auditorium of St. Mira’s College for Girls, Pune. The orientation was facilitated by Mr. Deepak Shinde, Projects and Initiatives Lead, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Ltd. During the session, Mr. Deepak explained the training and internship opportunities for the students.
The students would get a stipend of Rs. 1,000/- during the training and also incentives on selling the insurance policy or referring a client.
Software testing credit course was organized for the students of T.Y.B.SC (CS) and T.Y.BCA (CS) to guide them for future careers in software testing. A total of twenty students participated in the course coordinated by Swatee Sarwate.
The Department of Electronics organized a guest lecture on “Cyber Security Awareness Session and Careers In It” conducted by Mr. Sanjay Katkar – CTO(Chief Technology Officer) and founder of Quick Heal and Mr. Rohit Srivastwa -Senior Director and Head of Cyber Education and Services, Quick Heal, Pune on13th August 2018. Mr. Sanjay Katkar informed and updated students on how cyber security and forensics is changing the world around us. Mr. Rohit Srivastwa guided the students on different careers in Digital Forensics; Network Security Management; Incident Management; Security Testing; and Risk-audit and Compliance. The session was interactive and enhanced knowledge on Cyber Security and careers in it.
An interactive session with experts and trainers from PIBM (Pune Institute of Business Management) was organized on 1/9/2018 and 8/9/2018 on topics as Goal Setting, Communication Skills, Resume Writing/ GD & PI Skills, Aptitude Training. Subject matter experts, Mr. Vikram Sukhankar and Mr.Diniar Patel guided the students.
T.Y. Students of all streams participated in various drives on campus – Mphasis, Concentrix, KPMG, Quicksolve; and, off-campus – L&T Infotech, WIPRO,TCS, Northern Trust, ATOS Syntel, Capgemini, Iteach, GOMO, Infosys and Cognizant.

Placement and Career Counseling Cell Activities - 2017
The Placement Cell of St. Mira’s College has been actively involved in bringing about a match between the requirements of various companies and the students’ interests, their abilities and potentials. The success of the Placement Cell lies in placing the right candidates, in the right job, at the right time. The first half of the academic year had many orientations, on-campus and off-campus placement drives.
Guest Lectures and Orientations
The Teach for India Fellowship Program is an opportunity for the youth to serve as full-time teachers to children from low-income communities in some of the nation’s most under-resourced schools. The placement cell in collaboration with the Department of English had organized an orientation on 7th August 2017, for the students across all streams.
Edwise Overseas Education Consultants provides solutions for all international study needs. An orientation was organized on 12th September 2017 for the students across all streams where students of BA, BCom and BBA participated. 3 students, 1 from BCom and 2 from BA got an opportunity to participate in the Deakin interactive week to acquire a full scholarship for higher education at Deakin University, Australia. One of the students got selected for the 2nd round to be conducted in Delhi, in June 2018.
The Naandi Foundation – Mahindra Pride School Skilling Project was introduced in St. Mira’s College for BBA, BCA, and B.SC. (CS) students. Students participated in a soft skill training program with them.
Placement and Internship Drives
Intelligence Plus Pvt. Ltd is an educational institute which offers internship programs and placement to graduates and undergraduates. Two of our SYBA and four of our BBA students got selected for the internship.
Just Being Centre provides mindfulness-based therapies. It offers internship programs and placement to graduates and undergraduates. Four of our students got selected for the internship out of which one student was offered a full-time job post completion of the TYBA examination.
Centre for Mental Health Services in collaboration with Teach for India provides training and internship programs to graduate and undergraduate students. 12 SYBA students and 4 TYBA students got selected for the same.
An internship program was introduced for B.A. (History) and B.SC (CS) students by the company Tick-links.
5. Placement drives of L&T Infotech, Mphasis, Deloitte, Cognizant, Syntel and Adweb Software were conducted on-campus and off-campus.
