International Faculty Development Program by St Mira’s College for Girls- an IQAC

The International Faculty Development Program by St Mira’s College, held from May 18 to May 23 rd , 2020, saw an overwhelming participation of 165 participants across India, Bangladesh and the Middle East. The program was hosted on the Zoom Video Communications platform. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Principal of St Mira’s College for Girls, Pune, Dr Gulshan H Gidwani; Vice Principal, Dr Shalini Iyer, IQAC Co- ordinator, Dr Jaya Rajagopalan; Course co-ordinator, Mrs Stella Ambrose; CWE Co- ordinator, Dr Rama Venkatachatachalam and other in-house faculty members. The program was coordinated by Prof. Abhradita Chatterjee Nahvi of the BBA Department. The overwhelming response called for conducting double sessions. The Resource person Prof. Brijesh Singh, from SJB Institute of Technology, Bangalore was the host for the first session. The topic was “Research Mantra – Brahmahstra for Research” where he enlightened the participants with the knowledge of basic research, meaning, and types along with some case studies. The first session ended with an interactive Q & A session where participants cleared their doubts. The PowerPoint used was uploaded to the Google Classroom along with the study material for participants to have easy access to it.

On the second day of the FDP sessions on “Measurement of Scale and Hypothesis” and “Review of Literature” were held. Prof. Brijesh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of MBA, SJB Institute of Technology conducted the Measurement of Scale and Hypothesis session and Dr. Geetha R, HOD, Department of MBA, DSTM, Bangalore talked on how to write a “Review of Literature”. This double session was highly interactive and ran for three hours.

The session of the 3rd day titled “How to design a Questionnaire?” was presented by Dr Mamatha J, HOD, Department of MBA and Research Centre of SJBIT, Bangalore on the third day of the FDP. An evening session on Collection of Data was conducted by Prof. Brijesh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of MBA, SJB Institute of Technology

Day four of the FDP saw two sessions. The morning session on Data Analysis Methods was presented by Dr. Praveen Sinha, Associate Professor from Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management, Bangalore who talked on the theoretical approach and the software that can be used for data analysis. The 2nd session was conducted by Prof. Brijesh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of MBA, SJB Institute of Technology, Bangalore.

Day 5 offered sessions on “Goodness of Data” and “Publish or Perish” Prof. Brijesh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of MBA, SJB Institute of Technology, Bangalore conducted the ‘Goodness of Data’ session offering participants hands-on knowledge on how to use Excel and SPSS for data handling. The second session was highly interesting titled, “Publish or Perish” by Dr. Ramananaiah G, associated with SJBIT, Bangalore,

On Day 6 sessions on Intellectual Property Rights and “How to use Mendeley Desktop for Reference Management System” were conducted. The IPR was conducted by Dr Anand Siddapa who is the Director of Academics at CEP Global. Prof. Brijesh Singh, Department of MBA, SJB Institute of Technology, Bangalore presented the How to use Mendeley Desktop for Reference Management System session.

Prof. Brijesh Singh, Department of MBA, SJB Institute of Technology, Bangalore proffered a valuable commendation, “During this International FDP we started giving input to all the participants related to research like process, types, methodology, selection of appropriate test and also we had online hands-on experience on SPSS and Mendeley Desktop. These are statistical tools and software used for research purposes. It was a wonderful experience as participants were very involved in the learning process. A special mention to St Mira's College, for giving us the opportunity to collaborate and be a part of this International FDP as a resource person” The last day ended with a Valedictory session where IQAC co-ordinator proposed a vote of thanks on behalf of St. Mira’s College for Girls, and participants shared beautiful and motivational feedback for the Program. This will help us come back with another interesting session.
