St. Mira’s College has an active Placement Cell. The cell facilitates as a coordinating body between the industry and students. The raison d'être of our institution is to assist our students in achieving their dreams of successful careers in a challenging and ever-diversifying industry.
The Placement Cell enables students to explore the world of employment and new career avenues. It also helps students in career planning through counseling wherein they hone their strengths in terms of their interests, aptitudes, and abilities so that they can choose their career more effectively.
The focus of the Placement Cell is also on the professional development by training them in employability skills such as resume building, group discussion, and interview skills which in turn helps the students to move into the desired occupation and/or apply to prestigious postgraduate and professional schools.
The Placement Cell takes the initiative to explore new career avenues for graduates and postgraduates through visits to new companies and unexplored sectors. Campus recruitments are rigorously organized every year.
Pre-placement activities as well as Placement Internships are arranged for students. The selection process generally starts with a pre-placement talk to give insights into the company profile, job profile, career path, CTC etc. This is followed by the actual selection process i.e. written tests, group discussions, interviews etc.

Placement and Career Counseling Cell Activities - 2017
The Placement Cell of St. Mira’s College has been actively involved in bringing about a match between the requirements of various companies and the students’ interests, their abilities and potentials.
The success of the Placement Cell lies in placing the right candidates, in the right jobs, at the right time.
The first half of the academic year had many orientations, on-campus and off-campus placement drives.
Guest Lectures and Orientations
- The Teach for India Fellowship Program is an opportunity for the youth to serve as full-time teachers to children from low-income communities in some of the nation’s most under-resourced schools. The placement cell in collaboration with the Department of English had organized an orientation on 7th August 2017for the students across all streams.
- Edwise Overseas Education Consultants providessolutions for all international study needs. An orientation was organized on 12th September 2017 for the students across all streams where students of BA, BCom and BBA participated. 3 students, 1 from BCom and 2 from BA got an opportunity to participate in the Deakin interactive week to acquirea full scholarship for higher education at Deakin University, Australia. One of the students got selected for the 2nd round to be conducted in Delhi in June 2018.
- The Naandi Foundation – Mahindra Pride School Skilling Project was introduced in St. Mira’s College for BBA, BCA, and B.Sc. (CS) students. Students participated in a soft skill training program with them.
Placement and Internship Drive
- Intelligence Plus Pvt. Ltd. is an educational institute which offers internship programs and placement to graduates and undergraduates. Two of our SYBA and four of our BBA students got selected for the internship.
- Just Being Centre provides mindfulness-based therapies. It offers internship programs and placement to graduates and undergraduates. Four of our students got selected for the internship out of which one student was offered a full-time job post completion of the TYBA examination.
- Centre for Mental Health Services in collaboration with Teach for India, provides training and internship programs to graduate and undergraduate students. 12 SYBA students and 4 TYBA students got selected for the same.
- Aninternship program was introduced for BA(History) and B.SC.(CS) students by the company Tick-links.
- Placement drives of L&T Infotech,Mphasis,Deloitte, Cognizant,Syntel,and Adweb Software were conducted on-campus and off-campus.
Training on Insurance by Bajaj Allianz
A training programme on Insurance was conducted by Bajaj Allianz on Insurance for the students of St. Mira’s College.
The students of St. Mira's college for girls, attended training on insurance under the Bajaj Allianz insurance training programme. The programme was conducted over a twelve week period, from November 29, 2018 to February 1, 2019. The programme was conducted once a week for 2 hours at the College Campus. Fifty girls across streams (BA, BCOM, BCS, BCA, BBA) participated in the training programme.
The programme covered the basics of Insurance as it was designed for beginners. The syllabus covered topics such as the hierarchy of insurance and finance, the benefits of insurance, the types of insurance, the basic terminologies used in field, etc. The participants of the programme also received a stipend of Rs.1000 as well as a certificate on the completion of the training programme.
Certificate Program in Financial Markets-Sales & Operations
The Department of Economics, Business Economics & Banking has started a Certificate Program in Financial Markets-Sales & Operations. The program is offered under a skill-based CSR initiative by the BSE Institute Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd. The program aims to provide the necessary skill sets to students in the final year of their graduate degree course to make them job-ready in the financial markets.
The Course is a two-month placement-oriented comprehensive program in financial markets. The growing financial markets in India offer interesting and lucrative job opportunities and the program aims to train the students for the same. 45 students from the BA, BCom & BBA have enrolled for the program. The Course started on Jan 7, 2019.
The Course is divided into two parts- one part is referred to as the Dealers’ Module providing in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge about the Financial Markets, the various segments, instruments, participants, the process of trading, etc. While the other part focusses on soft skill development- from communication skills to mock interview sessions training the students to be placement ready.
The BSE Institute Ltd. has engaged two professional trainers for the program- Ms. Suchitra Kasalkar and Ms. Nasheem Sharif, while the Course is coordinated by Mr. Siddiqui Sheikh, State Coordinator, BSE Institute Ltd.
Soft Skills Session-II Interview Skills and Resume Writing
Another brilliant session on soft skills was conducted for group discussion and personal interview skills, along with personality grooming on Saturday, 8th September 2018, in collaboration with PIBM (Pune Institute of Business Management).
The session was conducted by Mr. Diniar Patel, the current managing editor with the Times of India, who not only captivated the student's minds with his knowledge but also incorporated fun into the session.
Equipping students with modern ways of presenting themselves and their resume for an interview, Mr. Patel gave various insights on requirements in today's times. The students were enlightened about the pathways to achieve the right kind of value addition to their profile. When it came to personality matters, Mr. Patel emphasized on having a persistent approach along with determined mindset.
He also highlighted the need of being aware of current affairs, knowing the game changers and encouraged the students to enhance their knowledge through reading.
This illuminating session imparted wisdom which enabled the students to evaluate their understanding of interview skills and improving their strategy for job interviews. The workshop was successful in educating the students on the formation of a strong base in the career of their choice.
Placement Cell-Soft Skill Development
The Placement Cell of St. Mira’s College organized a session on Soft-Skill Development on 1st September 2018.The topic for the session was,'How to ace an Aptitude Test'. The session was hosted by Mr. Vikrant Sukhtankar from PIBM (Pune Institute of Business Management) who has scored an unbelievable 99.5% three times in the CAT Exam.
The objective was to highlight the various logical applications and generalizations that are essential and often overlooked. It was attended by over 220 students from across the streams of BBA, BBA-CA, BSC (Computer Science), BA, and B.COM.
Emphasis was made on the competence level required in the job market today.'Curiosity', Mr. Sukhtankar explained, is what will give the answers to what students are looking for; thereby promoting creative thinking and thought process development among them.
Students enthusiastically look forward to the next session of this training to learn more and groom themselves further.
Placement Orientation (2018-19) by the St. Mira’s College Placement Cell
The placement cell of St. Mira’s College organized an orientation program on Tuesday 31st August 2018 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am in the auditorium for all TY students to make them aware of the placement cell activities and to introduce the current student placement representative from each department for the annual year 2018-19. As the outcome of the program, the students came to know about the student placement coordinator from their respective departments and their role in placement drives. They also got an idea of the various companies and jobs they can apply for.

KPMG Placement Drive
KPMG, India is one of the leading providers of risk, financial services and business advisory, internal audit, corporate governance. They conducted a campus drive headed by HR Associate Ms Sucheta Panjila on the 25th Feb2019 at St. Mira’s College for Girls.
Beginning with an insightfulorientation of the company, KPMG conducted 3 rounds of interviews. There were 30 candidates who participated and total of 13 students got selected, 5 from the BCom stream and 8 from BBA.
The recruiters were very impressed with the student’s knowledge and communication skills.
Concentrix Campus Recruitment Drive
Concentrix is the outsourced business services division of SYNNEX Corporation, headquartered in Fremont, CA. SYNNEX is a leading technology and business process services company, listed on the NYSE (SNX) and ranked #169 in the Fortune 500.On 1st Dec 2018, the college Placement Cell had organized a Concentrix campus recruitment drive for third year students of B.COM., B.A., B.B.A.,B.B.A.(CA), B.Sc. and for M.COM.-II students in the AV room at 11:00 am. 85 students from the several streams got selected for the post of representative.
Placement Drive by Northern Trust
Placement drive for Northern Trust, an asset management and wealth management company headquartered at Chicago, was scheduled on 3rd and 4th December 2018. The placement drive was conducted at Ness Wadia College for the role of an Analyst. The students participated in the 2-day recruitment process consisting of aptitude testing, group discussion, technical and HR rounds. 2 of our B.Com. and 4 of our BBA students got selected.
Placement Cell Orientation - Akanksha Foundation
The Placement Cell of St. Mira’s College for Girls, Pune organized an orientation sessionconducted by Akanksha Foundation on Monday, 27th August 2018 from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm in the AV room. The students from BA, B.com, BBA, BBA (CA), BCS programs were part of the orientation. Around 50 students attended the orientation, of which 25 students were interested in the internship program offered by Akanksha Foundation.
The orientation was facilitated by Ms. Bhavana Diwedi. During the session, she explained the internship opportunity for the students. The students have to complete a minimum of 100 hours for being eligible for an internship letter. However, they can volunteer for less than 100 hours for the experience. The students also have an opportunity to be placed with one of the schools associated with Akanksha Foundation.
