Orientation Session on Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Course - Department of Accountancy- 2022-2023
The Department of Accountancy organized an orientation session on Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Course in association with ICAI, Pune Chapter on 10 th January 2023 for the BCom and BBA students of the college in the A.V Room from 12 pm to 1 .30 pm. The session speakers were CMA Neeraj Joshi, Central Council Member, ICAI Kolkata and CMA Meena Vaidya, former Chairperson of ICAI Pune Chapter.
CMA Neeraj Joshi introduced, the Institute of Cost Accountancy and the background behind introduction of CAT course coming into existence and the increasing demand for it. He shared important aspects of the course like number of levels, training hours, eligibility criteria, etc. followed by the opportunities after completion, placement and average salary for CAT candidates. The speaker also shared how ICAI was able to offer the course free of cost to students under the MOU with Government of Maharashtra. Ms. Meena Vaidya explained the modules and subjects of the course and shared details about exam modality and admission dates and the support ICAI, Pune Chapter will provide during the admission process.
The session ended with the students’ queries being answered by the officials followed by distribution of CAT course forms. The information provided during the orientation was easily understandable and a lot of girls were interested in stepping forward for enrolment. The turnout of this session was very good as a large number of students showed interest to join the course.
A total of 207 students attended the session.
