"Glorious 60 - Samagam"

On 24th January 2023, the Department of Business Studies of St. Mira’s College for Girl’s organized the event “SAMAGAM” for all Commerce students in auditorium from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. The meaning of the word SAMAGAM means “Coming Together for a great purpose”. The main purpose of the session was to have an open dialogue with the students on different topics and understand their perspective for better learning. This was an initiative taken to celebrate the glorious 60 years completion of St. Mira’s College for Girls. The event began with the lighting of the lamp through the hands of Vice Principal Dr. Shalini Iyer, along with our business studies teachers, Dr. Rama Venkatachalam, Ms. Rajni Singh, Ms. Shanthi Fernandes, Ms. Jyoti Chintan and Dr. Deepa Krishnamurthi. The event began with a brief address by vice principal Dr. Shalini Iyer on the 60 years completion of the college. This was followed by a small introduction of the event by event Coordinator Dr. Deepa Krishnamurthi . Initially in the program, an ice breaker session was conducted to involve the students. The games were related to team building and memory testing .The participants enjoyed them enthusiastically along with the audience. After that the teachers of the Department of Business Studies encouraged students on different topics like goal setting, useful tips for exams, personality development, placement and career etc. These tips were especially useful for students after the Covid period. After this, an openhouse session was conducted. The main aim of the session was to have a useful dialogue with students and encourage them for better learning and take their inputs on distinct topics. At the end, a vote of thanks was delivered by a student and that marked the end of the program. In the program the students were freely able to express themselves without any barrier and the teachers as well had a wonderful time with the students along with valuable learning. In all 378 students actively participated in the event.
