Leveraging Access to E-resources of St Mira's College Library: A Webinar for Research Scholars (A.Y. 2023-24)
The College Library organized a training programme on Learning Resources for students of PhD course in Women Studies on 18 th July, 2023 on the ZOOM App. Mr Gaurav Date from EBSCO Inf. Ser. India Pvt., demonstrated EBSCO Databases. Mrs. Devinder Kaur-Librarian made the students acquainted with the library layout, collection, membership procedure, facilities and rules & regulation of the library. Login credentials form, Online Catalogue, E- resources, Table of Contents, New Arrivals and Blog were demonstrated through the library webpage. She also elaborated NLIST platform along with information searching skills.
Training on EBSCO databases covered the searching process with the topics- ‘domestic violence’ and ‘women’s participation in Indian politics’. To refine results various filters and facets were explained which included- Full text, Scholarly/Peer-reviewed Journals, Publication dates, Source Type, Publisher, Company, Language, Geography and format. Many useful features like- saving the articles in folder, share, create an E-mail alert and selection of ‘Subject Thesaurus Term’, sharing PDF articles via email and permalink were demonstrated. The explanation also included citing articles in different styles, listening to HTML articles, translation and notes creation. Steps to download the EBSCO Mobile App and its features were showcased. A total of 07 students participated in the training. The session was organised by Mrs Devinder Kaur-Librarian.
