The Department of Business Studies, organized the annual event “SAMAGAM” for the students of Commerce faculty on Aug 11, 2023. The purpose of the session is to have an open dialogue with the students on different topics and to guide them towards a bright future. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Parag Kalkar (Director, Sinhgad Business School Pune Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The event began with a Ganesh Vandana performed by Ms. Olivia. This was followed opening remarks by Vice Principal Dr. Shalini Iyer. Dr. Rama Venkatchalam, Head, Dept of Business Studies presented an outline of activities conducted by the department, the new additions to the curriculum to equip the students both academically and professionally.
In his address, Dr. Kalkar expressed his thoughts on how important knowledge acquired in the classroom is and how it can be applied in the real/professional life. He stressed on the importance of business communication, coordination, skill building, professionalism, capacity building, critical thinking, etc. He also stressed on personal health care and need to overcome shortcomings by investing in ourselves. Dr. Kalkar pointed out that the current generation is being influenced by the advancement in IT and Social Media and how that they should work on its positive impact. The program concluded by a Q A session.
A total of 414 students and 7 faculty members attended the session.
