Student-teacher Library Visits (A. Y. 2023-24)
The College Library organised a student-teacher visit to encourage students towards optimal utilization of scholarly resources. Subject oriented visits were organised on 7th and 8th August 2023 for students from TY BCom and SY BA in the 1st floor library. They were accompanied by their teachers for the demonstration of resources on subjects like- International Business and Demography. Students were taken around the library and made aware of the print and online resources available in the library. Issuing privileges, getting login credentials, accessing online catalogue, databases, e-books and e-journals, the Read Plus Club and Library Ambassadorship were explained to them. Information was given on the importance of reading general and financial newspapers; focusing on pages devoted to news stories on economics both in English and Marathi languages. Further, format and contents of journals were demonstrated including titles- Economic & Political weekly, Yojana, Bank Quest, Focus IB naming a few. Subject teachers highlighted the contents from the books on International Economics/Business by authors like Paul Krugman, Robert Carbaugh, Rajendra Maheshwari and others. Students from SY BA were introduced to resources on demography and population. They were shown resources like India yearbook, Manorama year book, Census of India Atlas, websites of UNDP among others. A total of 112 students attended the library visits. Mrs Devinder Kaur (Librarian), Dr Shalini Iyer (HOD- Business Economics) and Ms. Amruta Narke (Economics) were the resource persons.
