Wizarding World of Harry Potter: A tribute to J K Rowling’s Writing (2022-23)
The event was organised by the “Read Plus Club” of St. Mira’s College Library on 6 th January 2023 in the 1st floor library from 10 am to 2 pm. Fun activities aiming to celebrate famous works of J K Rowling and motivate students to create love for reading were conducted. Excited “Potterheads” were given Letters of Acceptance which made them surprised and overjoyed to receive the exact replica of the letter just as in the fiction. An atmosphere of the Great Hall was imitated by assembling long wooden tables and segregating houses through house flags- Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, balloons with owl painting and floating candles. Props like Luna’s glasses, Sorting Hat, Witch’s Hat, Wands and Harry’s specs enhanced the fictional atmosphere. Just like ‘first years’, participants were sorted into their houses by the Sorting Hat.
Students enthusiastically participated in the fiction-based Quiz, Spell Challenge and Treasure Hunt. Participants also enjoyed reading- “The tale of the three brothers”. The ‘Best Costume’ and award went to Ms Pankhuri Gogoi (FYBA) who dressed as Harry Potter. Mrs Komal Tujare and Ms Swaruti Tamang judged this event. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Devinder Kaur with Ms Suhani Sawant as the student coordinator and other volunteers.
