Exam Pattern
- Semester Pattern Under Graduate
- Year 1 – Semester 1 and Semester 2
- Year 2 – Semester 3 and Semester 4
- Year 3 – Semester 5 and Semester 6
- Semester Pattern Post Graduate
- Year 1 – Semester 1 and Semester 2
- Year 2 – Semester 3 and Semester 4
- Evaluation and Rules of Passing
- There is an internal examination held for 40 marks and an end-semester examination for 60 marks. Passing the end-semester examination is compulsory with minimum 24/60 and a total of 40/100.
- Attendance is compulsory for the examination; in case of absence, it would be considered as a backlog. The student has to appear for the same the next time that semester examination is held.
- As per the University of Pune Rules, the student is entitled to get grace marks of minimum 3 marks per subject, not exceeding more than 3 subjects, maximum of 9 marks. Grace marks are indicated with the sign”#” on the marksheet. For instance, a student who has obtained 21 marks in a subject at the semester examination and 16 marks in the internal examination, she would be given 3 marks grace for obtain a total of 40/100.
- In case a student has got 24/60, however has not obtained min 40/100, she should apply for an internal backlog.
- In case of a backlog, a “+” sign appearing before the marks in a particular subject indicated that the student has obtained less marks in the recently held exam over any previous exam she may have appeared before.
- Weightage of Marks
- Internal Assessment – 40% [Attendance and class participation – 5 % + On – Line exams: – 15% + Field projects/ assignments – 20 %] • End Semester Exams – 60 % It is compulsory to pass the end-semester examination with minimum 24/60 and a total of 40/100.
- Care has been taken to ensure transparency in the Evaluation and Examination processes. Both, the external examiner and the faculty members teaching the subject will assess the answer papers.
- Sanctuary examination is compulsory for the students of the F.Y. COM/B.A; the student has to pass the examination. Grades are assigned in this examination. Those who do not get a grade above C will be declared as Fail with ATKT.
- A course in Environmental Science is compulsory as per University Rules in the S.Y. B.COM/B.A. Grades are assigned in this examination. Those who do not get a grade above C will be declared as Fail with ATKT.
- A student who is a NSS volunteer get an extra 5 marks added to the total. The NSS officer will submit the necessary details to the examination cell for the same.
About Autonomy
Mira’s College – The First Arts & Commerce College In Maharashtra To Be Granted Autonomy In The Year 2007
Autonomy is the privilege granted by a University to colleges affiliated to it to undertake some of the functions undertaken by the University itself. The University of Pune has placed its trust in St. Mira’s College and allowed the College to design B.A. / B.COM Degree courses to suit students’ and industry needs and conduct exams in the same. Autonomy is synonymous with accountability. Only such educational institutions that have a track record of excellent academic performances, credibility and are well known for ‘Healthy and Ethical Practices’ are granted Autonomous status.
Certification:
Every year students will receive a mark sheet mentioning percentage of marks and Grade secured at the end of each year.
At the end of the third year, the University of Pune will award the students the Degree Certificate. Such a certificate will bear the name of University of Pune as also the name of St. Mira’s College for Girls, Pune. The certificate will be issued separately for a degree in Arts / Commerce stream, but will essentially reflect a multi-discipline competence in commerce or Arts subjects and electives chosen from across the streams.
Advanced learners who have taken advanced courses in their subjects will get certificates, which clearly mention the advanced level of their subject in their respective certificates.

Examination Cell:
The entire examination work is entrusted to an Examination Committee consisting of the Principal and senior faculty members.
As per Statutes, the College has appointed a Controller of Examination to ensure fair and smooth conduct of examinations. The Committee members meet regularly to formulate and implement Rules and Regulations for the conduct of Examinations under autonomy. Under autonomy, evaluation is a continuous process. The course has a combination of tests, discussions and project work for each year. The tests may be objective, multiple choice questions, short answers, essay types, project based and practical activities.
