Teachers and Nations Building – Quality Initiative
As part of a quality initiative,on 23rd June 2022, Father Frazer, retired principal of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai spoke to the entire faculty on excellence in education and the role of the teacher in nation building. He covered topics like the importance of provoking critical thinking and creativity, the all-round formation of the student and values conveyed through education. Education, according to him, must inspire, provoke creativity and commitment which in turn will lead to nation building. He then explained concepts like Blooms Taxonomy, Blended Learning and Flipped Classrooms. He shared the structured processes developed by his colleague Dr Vivien Amonkar, also a retired professor from St Xavier’s College, in the form of evaluation charts, rubrics and the importance of collaboration. The session was both informative and inspiring. 34 faculty members attended the session.
