Reading Inspiration Day Celebration and Inauguration of Read Plus Club (2022-23)
To mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, St Mira’s College celebrated ‘Reading Inspiration Day’ on 17th October 2022. Tribute was paid to Dr Kalam by the lighting of the lamp by Vice Principal- Dr Shalini Iyer, speaker Mrs Pooja Jain along with other faculty members and students. The Librarian, Mrs Devinder Kaur, delivered welcome address. Ms Rajshee Ghosh (11th std) spoke on the illustrious life of Dr Kalam. Guest speaker- Mrs Pooja Jain-Sr. Counselling Psychologist delivered a talk on ‘Reading and Mental Health’. She talked about the psychological and social beliefs which stops us from reading. She also explained that one can start many books at a time and read as per the mood over a period of time. Mrs Pooja shared the fact that reading relaxes the brain extensively. Later, chief guest Dr Shalini Iyer along with other guests inaugurated the much required ‘Read Plus Club’. Few students shared their expectations and excitement to join this club. The library displayed a variety of reading material including books on Dr. Abdul Kalam, Literature, Self-help and Biography apart from magazines and newspapers. The programme was conducted in the 1st floor library and was attended by 78 students. The event was coordinated by Ms Devinder Kaur- Librarian and Ms Neena Datta.
